Jaywick Martello Tower Exhibition: St Helena Hospice - Life Stories
St Helena Hospice is celebrating its 40th anniversary with two exhibitions at the historical Jaywick Martello Tower.
‘Life Stories’ celebrates people as individuals beyond their diagnosis as they reflect on a whole life lived.
In a project kindly funded by Essex County Council’s Arts and Cultural Fund, some of the people supported by the Hospice across north east Essex, record their memories and anecdotes about life. The project advocates that there is more to a person than being defined by their illness, capturing stories of life before death, and celebrating everything that made them who they are.
Running alongside the exhibition is ‘Heritage Stories’, a collection of oral histories from people involved in the very beginning of St Helena Hospice.
