Cressing Temple Barns: World's Edge Fantasy Fayre

World’s Edge is an unusual village. It spins through space and time, picking up inhabitants as it goes. Walk into World’s Edge and you might encounter fae, mermaids, starfighters or people from the distant reaches of history.

It’s said that for just one weekend a year near Midsummer, it connects to our own world - at the incredible medieval Cressing Temple Barns in Essex.

On that weekend, the citizens of World’s Edge hold a special market, shows and a party to welcome you one and all in the spirit of imagination.

  • Cheer on swordsmen and fantasy battles in the grand arena as jesters and jongleurs mingle with the crowd.
  • Enjoy a Saturday night gathering with fantasy-themed and Viking music from live bands
  • Share a toast or a delicious meal with your fellow adventurers in a mighty medieval tavern, beneath the beams of a building once owned by the Knights Templar.
  • Stroll through an unearthly market of 75+ stalls featuring the UK’s finest fantasy artisans.
  • Learn out-of-this-world skills from real-world experts: learn how to do movie-style SFX makeup, throw axes, shoot arrows, fight with swords, survive in the wilderness, and much more in bookable workshops.
  • Try Dungeons & Dragons for the first time, or be part of immersive live D&D with It’s Your Role!
  • Cheer on - or enter! - archery and cosplay competitions showcasing East Anglia's talent. There's £1,000 to win!
  • Pose for your portrait in exquisite gardens, serenaded by minstrels.
  • Explore a pop-up museum bringing Essex’s witches to life.
  • Join the magical Mushroom Parade.
  • Come with your friends, or come alone and make new ones!
  • Enjoy amazing food, music and more surrounded by the very best people - others who love to step outside the bounds of the known world and embrace their real, fantastical selves.
