Hadleigh Country Park pump tracks to be upgraded for riders of all ages
Work to upgrade two pump tracks at Hadleigh Country Park is to take place this autumn following £225,000 of investment by Essex County Council.
Posted on 12th October 2026

Hadleigh was home to the London 2012 Olympic Games mountain biking. Now over a decade later, the works on the pump tracks will inspire the next generation of riders of all ages and abilities.
Why are we upgrading the pump tracks at Hadleigh?
The two existing pump tracks currently at the Hadleigh Country Park are to be revamped to make them compatible for bicycles, scooters, skateboards and roller skates.
Both pump tracks will remain the same size, however the surfaces and layouts will be upgraded and modernised to future proof them for new generations of cyclists.
We’re working with On Track, one of the UK’s leading bike facilities and design contractor. On Track have been designing and building trails, pump tracks and bike parks across the UK for over 20 years.

Who can use the pump tracks?
The upgraded tracks will be fully accessible for all wheeled vehicles (such as bicycles, skateboards, scooters and roller skates) and all will be welcome. The pump tracks are ideal for all ages, from beginners to more experienced users.
Please note: No motorised vehicles are permitted on the pump tracks.
How long will the work take?
Work on the two tracks begins on Monday 12 October and is expected to be completed by the beginning of December 2026.

Why is this investment important?
Councillor Russell Quirk, Deputy Leader of Essex County Council, said: “The upgraded pump tracks will be state of the art and modernised for future visitors of all ages to use and enjoy.
“Along with the pump tracks, there are mountain bike and walking trails and play areas at Hadleigh, which offer plenty of opportunities for people to get active to improve their mental and physical health whatever their age or fitness level.”
