Thaxted Festival: Ignas Maknickas (Harlow)
Thaxted Festival is delighted to present Ignas Maknickas in Great Dunmow, as part of its Developing Artists Programme.
The programme provides a platform for professional musicians and composers at the earlier stages of their careers.
Through it, we are able to bring outstanding musicians to a wide public within our summer Festival season in Thaxted, as well as through our outreach events in other locations.
Ignas Maknickas is a 2023 Young Classical Artists Trust winner and has performed in numerous competitions. He took first prize at the XIX Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Youth in Szafarnia, first prize at the XX Piano Competition ‘Young Virtuoso’ in Zagreb, third prize at the Aarhus Piano Competition and, in 2021, was the semi-finalist of the Vendome Prize.
In the same year, he received ‘The Queen’s Commendation for Excellence’ as the highest-scoring graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Music.
In September 2021 he commenced the Master of Arts programme at the RAM on a full scholarship, studying with Professor Joanna MacGregor CBE.
Supported by the Essex County Council Arts and Cultural Fund.
