Discover a magical afternoon of Midsummer Madness with this free family fun day at Cressing Temple Barns.
With lots for the whole family to do, free drop-in activities, free parking. No booking required, simply turn up.
Free drop-in activities include:
- Aloo O!: African storytelling, crafts and drumming with Sade Fadipe, Portia Mushambi and Margaret Omoniyi.
- Eco-crafts and fairy headbands: Join us for willow weaving, paper making, notebooks, leaf printing and more.
- Pop-up Storytelling Armchair: Hosted by BBC Essex's Rob Jelly, enjoy different tales and storytellers throughout the afternoon.
- The Poetry Shed.
- This Land Exhibition: discover the giant concertina book created by school children telling the story of what makes Essex special to them.
- This Land Scribble Board: See artist/illustrator Michael Young and contribute to the Scribble Board, celebrating the rich diversity, heritage and natural environment of what makes Essex special.
- Treasure Hunt Trail: Explore the beautiful Walled Garden, hunt for fairies and magical creatures throughout the site.
Bookable Workshops:
- Singing Like Larks Nature Workshop with Andrew Millham. All ages.
- Game Changers Workshop with Signals. Ages 11 to 14.
- Top Writing Tips Workshop with Sam Scott. Ages 11 to 16.
- Love My Skin Outside In Workshop with Leema Jabbar. Ages 6 to 10.
Each bookable workshop costs £3 per child.
All those aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Cressing Temple Barns: World's Edge Fantasy Fayre
World’s Edge is an unusual village. It spins through space and time, picking up inhabitants as it goes. Walk into World’s Edge and you might encounter fae, mermaids, starfighters or people from the distant reaches of history.
