Jaywick Martello Tower: Army, navy and a little local history
The Royal Navy despised the British Army, but Kaiser Wilhelm was seen as a threat, causing the need for a comprehensive invasion exercise to bring the armed forces into the modern era.
In 1904, for the first time ever, the two services co-operated and between Clacton and Holland-on-Sea six cruisers landed two divisions to march inland and 'take' Witham. Join Frances Boardman to find out more about this fascinating story.
Tickets are £3 each and must be booked in advance.
Doors open at 10.30am.
