The Gruffalo and Friends Colouring Competition

Celebrate 25 years of The Gruffalo with us in 2024

Win £50 of goodies every month with our colouring competition

We love The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler here at Explore Essex and why, didn’t you know? He is celebrating his 25th birthday in 2024!

We're kicking off our celebrations with a Gruffalo and Friends Colouring Competition, so get your colouring pencils at the ready, set, go!

To enter

To enter all you need to do is:

Choose a colouring sheet, print it out and get colouring (or pick up a colouring sheet from Thorndon and Weald Country Parks home of The Gruffalo and Stick Man trails - available from February half term).

You may choose to read the book and match the colours for a realistic look or experiment and try out something new. Perhaps you'd like to give the Gruffalo some splendid celebratory spots or stripes! Whatever colours and patterns you choose, we can’t wait to see your creations.

When your child's masterpiece is ready simply take a photo of it and email it to: to enter the prize draw. Please title your email: Gruffalo Comp.
