ERO Presents: Back into the future - How Science shaped us
This day presents a series of papers looking at how Science has shaped us and is being used to unveil the past. With everything from the Science of gas manufacture to fibre optics and the latest archaeological practices we hope to give a fantastic insight into the impact of scientific progress on Essex.
Peter Wynn will be talking about gas manufacture and water purification
Zoe Outram will discuss the science of archaeology
David Crease will talk about the science of brewing
Ian Vance will look at the development of fibre optics at STL in Harlow
John Miners will explore the science of cloth manufacture
Tony Crosby will wrap up with a whistle-stop tour of the industrial archaeology of Chelmsford
Please note registration begins at 9.30 with the first talk commencing at 10.20
