Snapping the Stiletto
Snapping the Stiletto 2020
A funded project to explore the changes to Essex women's lives since 1918
We're delighted that the National Lottery Heritage have funded a second phase of the 'Snapping the Stiletto' project which aims to collect and tell the stories of underrepresented communities in Essex.
The 'Snapping the Stiletto' project will collect the oral histories and heritage objects about the lives of working-class, BAME and LGBTQ+ women from the last 100 years.
This second project will develop relationships between four museums, Maldon Museum in the Park, the Museum of Power, Saffron Walden Museum and Southend Museums Service, who will help target communities and preserve women’s experiences and encourage donations through a broad range of exciting events in their communities.
Partner museums and community organisations include:
- Southend Museums Service
- Maldon Museum in the Park
- Museum of Power
- Uttlesford Museum
- Essex Cultural Diversity Project
- University of Essex
- Colchester Stitch and Bitch
